Pilot sets with innovative solutions

MHS Serwis Mikulski implements a record-breaking contract for Silva. It is not easy to design and construct a trailer for a vehicle used for transporting wood waste and sawdust to the producer of wood based-boards, and - on the way for another batch of post-production wood - deliver those boards to the local warehouse. The problem is each of those cargoes requires a different loading.

MHS Serwis Mikulski based in Wilkw near wiebodzin is implementing a pilot programme for a set ordered by the Silva company from Mielec. It is in the course of carrying out a contract for delivery of five sets for transport of wood waste and other cargoes, and 10 sets with stanchions for transport of stacked wood. It is a record order for the company, which has operated for nearly 20 years. And perhaps the most challenging, since it must deal with a number of new technical and operating issues defined by the ordering company. Therefore, the producer needs to apply new solutions guaranteeing safe transport.

As for the 10 sets for transport of stacked wood, ordered by Silva, they will be equipped with stanchions produced by MHS, which are characterised by light weight and resistance. The full set weighs only 120 kg. 4 stanchions are to be installed in the vehicle and 6 in the trailer.
Silva is not a new client of  MHS Serwis Mikulski, since it already ordered some sets, first six years ago. Probably because of that the company from Mielec, which is considered by many a very demanding customer, decided to place another order in the company from Wilkw.
- I think our customer has confidence in us - says Rajmund Mikulski, the companys proprietor. - I believe it values the reliability, functionality and technical safety transport carried out with the sets operated by different drivers.

Contract implementation takes about three months. The owner denies however that even an order so attractive like this one could have a negative impact on providing services to individual carriers of wood. Many of them have been using services of a company that specialises only in assembling semi-trailers and constructing trailers for transport of wood, since they consider such specialisation beneficial to customers. That is why several assemblies are carried out in the main industrial hall at the same time for Silva and for individual customers. Worth noting is the new structure of the trailer, resulting from many years of experience obtained when repairing used trailers.

The owner showed the GPD reporter who visited the company in Wilkw new devices capable of performing more and more complex tasks. Recently a new, digitally controlled brake has been purchased, with parameters ordered by the MHS company. It has a pressure of 180 tonnes/mb, which enables bending thick fine-grained steel. It is 15 metres long, 5 metres wide and 5 metres high, and it operates in continuous cycle. Its steel elements are cut with a CNC plasma cutter.
