"Parkieciarze Polscy" (Polish Floor Installers Association) in compliance with ISO
size

Will other industry associations follow in the footsteps of the Polish Floor Installers Association and decide to implement the quality management system? The first ISO certificate 9001-2008 was granted to the industry association at the Budma Fair in Pozna. The German certification body TV SD carried out in December 2001 an audit of the Polish Floor Installers Association with regards to the system of quality control. As a result of the audit, compliance of the internal system of ensuring quality with the requirements of ISO 9001 was established.

What does it mean for floor installers and investors commissioning companies belonging to SPP to carry out floor installation?
The third issue of Gazeta Przemysu Drzewnego features an interview with Dariusz Kozera, President of SPP, who explains that. He explains that works on the system implementation lasted the entire 2011, as it required creating many procedures and instructions describing all actions taking place within the organisation, and pointing out means of their implementation.

The certificate granted to the association does not automatically extend to each member company, but the policy introduced to the associations statute requires every member of SPP to act in accordance with the rules and regulations specified in the ISO quality control system adopted by the association. It concerns work safety at construction sites and quality of work.

- Installation of a floor is not a cheap investment - says Dariusz Kozera - therefore a floor installer should not agree on cost-saving ideas put forward by some investors, who for example decide not to use sub-floor under a wood floor. And then they blame wood stresses on the floor installer. A member of our association may persuade an investor that the ISO standards he abides by prevent deviations from proper assembly. On the other hand, our ISO certificate guarantees large companies that their small sub-contractors observe high standards of safety at work.
Perhaps other industry associations will follow in the footsteps of the Polish Floor Installers Association and convince their members that the idea behind the quality control system is not only concerned with work performance but also with areas related to work conditions, payments and mutual obligations.
